About Us

Kawkawa Camp has been experiencing exciting growth and ministry support since re-opening in 2008. Kawkawa Summer Camps are dedicated "to bring kids to know God, demonstrate His love and communicate Christ to others." This takes place in an atmosphere of acceptance, love and safety, with well-trained staff building relationships and guiding the campers in the summer of their lives.

Kawkawa Camp and Retreat Centre is owned and operated by Kawkawa Camp and Retreat Society and is located on the eastern shores of Kawkawa Lake just east of Hope, B.C.

Are You Willing?

Since re-opening, countless volunteers and staff have made it possible for Kawkawa Camp to host a number of retreats and summer camps. There is still work to be done; there are many opportunities for volunteering to work both indoors and out. Please let us know if you are available to get your hands dirty and help us maintain what God has entrusted to us. As well as needing your help with the buildings & land; Kawkawa Camp is also in need of your financial support. We invite you to become a financial partner of Kawkawa Camp so we can continue to offer a place where lives are changed.

1973-2008: A Bit of Kawkawa History

Since about 1973 when the Vancouver and Fraser Valley Alliance churches bought what was called then the “GrapeVine Resort’, a fishing camp, and re-named it ‘Camp Kawkawa’, many changes have happened on these camp grounds. The property had several already in place cabins and other out-buildings, some of which were used for many years by Kawkawa in its operation. There were 4 cabins on the beach, a single family residence just above the road that runs through the camp and 2 cabins just above the location of the house. The place was a little run down, but its location fronting Kawkawa lake and just 2 miles from Hope, B.C. was and still is an ideal location for a camp to be developed. The camp has about 360 feet of beach frontage is about 1800 feet long straight back from the lake up the hillside and then is about 1500 feet wide at its widest point at the rear of the property. The camp is 20 acres in size and actually ‘L’ shaped if you were looking down at it from about 10,000 feet in the air.
