About Us
Kawkawa Camp has RE-OPENED for this upcoming '08 summer, and we are expecting the best summer of camping ever! Kawkawa Summer Camps are dedicated, “To bring people to know God, demonstrate His love and communicate Christ to others”. This takes place in an atmosphere of acceptance, love and safety, with well-trained staff building relationships and guiding the campers in the summer of their lives.
Kawkawa Camp and Retreat is owned and operated by the Canadian Pacific District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance and located on the shores of Kawkawa Lake just east of Hope, B.C. It is surrounded by mountains, rivers and valleys and is a magnificent setting and a great location for campers to have the time of their lives.
Are You Willing?
Kawkawa Camp is open for camp this coming summer! In fact, volunteers and staff have made it possible to host a number of retreats before the summer months. There is much work to be done on the property and building before we are ready! There will be many opportunities for volunteering to work both indoors and out. Please let us know if you are available to get your hands dirty and help us prepare for the best summer of camping yet!
As well as needing your help to spruce things up, Kawkawa Camp is also in need of your financial support. We invite you to become a financial partner of Kawkawa Camp so we can continue to offer a place where lives are changed.
1973-2008: A Bit of Kawkawa History
Since about 1973 when the Vancouver and Fraser Valley Alliance churches bought what was called then the “GrapeVine Resort’, a fishing camp, and re-named it ‘Camp Kawkawa’, many changes have happened on these camp grounds. The property had several already in place cabins and other out-buildings, some of which were used for many years by Kawkawa in its operation. There were 4 cabins on the beach, a single family residence just above the road that runs through the camp and 2 cabins just above the location of the house. The place was a little run down, but its location fronting Kawkawa lake and just 2 miles from Hope, B.C. was and still is an ideal location for a camp to be developed. The camp has about 360 feet of beach frontage is about 1800 feet long straight back from the lake up the hillside and then is about 1500 feet wide at its widest point at the rear of the property. The camp is 20 acres in size and actually ‘L’ shaped if you were looking down at it from about 10,000 feet in the air.
